Saving for university

Written By: Teen Money Expert Stuart Fleming on July 1, 2009

How to pay for university?

That’s easy Pat! If you start saving now, you’re bound to have enough put aside to cover your expenses.

If I were you, I would find part-time work for after school or the weekends and keep that money separate. In no time at all it will become a sizable amount and you’ll get such a kick from watching it grow.

I would also watch what I was spending - I’d want to reach my savings goal as soon as!

That might mean I go without some things in the process. For instance, I wouldn’t upgrade my phone every six months like Spike does - that costs too much! And I would get my shoes re-soled so I could wear them another season before they die completely.

Even going to the movies or buying CDs would take a back seat, depending on how badly I wanted to reach that money-goal.

How badly do you want to go to university?
