Money role-models: mothers win

Written By: Teen Money Expert Stuart Fleming on July 15, 2009

Money survey results are in

Mothers take the award for ‘Most Influential Money Role-Model’ amongst the respondents of our recent survey for 12-29 year-olds, receiving a quarter of the vote.

Fathers were close behind with 21%, just ahead of friends (16%) and family members (14%).

Interesting, not one person selected ‘teacher’.

Additional feedback on role-models included:

“I don’t have an influential role-model. Most people I know are up to their eyeballs in debt.”

“I don’t have one for money or career success because my family, etc are all pretty low on the economic scale.”

“I don’t want to be like my parents, who always say they have no money.”

Who is your role-model for financial inspiration and guidance?
