Control your cell-phone spending

Written By: Teen Money Expert Stuart Fleming on July 2, 2009

There’s one simple way to keep a cap on how much money you spend on your cell-phone, Mike… use the ‘pre-pay‘ option!

I’ve allocated myself a fixed amount each week to top-up my phone, and once that’s gone I don’t make any calls or send any messages until the next week.

Sure, it frustrates some of my friends (and my parents, actually) that I’m not contactable for some of the week, but that’s their problem. Using pre-pay means I don’t get carried away and spend money needlessly. My bank balance would never grow otherwise!

So make sure your phone company explains the pay-before-you-use option to you. I recommend it.

Oh, and when are you going to tell us more about Michelle? It sounds like you’re hooked! Hmmmm…?!
