Money galore and still financially hopeless
“Our son is hopeless at managing money and I fear he’s going to just spend his loan and overdraft and we’ll end up having to bail him out.” Concerned parent.
Saving money and still my parents worry
…according to Ashley Stasher
My bank account is growing all the time. Saving money comes naturally to me. My parents tease me and call me ‘money-bags’. They reckon I have more cash-on-hand than they do (which is probably true). They know I won’t be like the guy mentioned above, spending his loan and overdraft and needing a financial rescue package from his parents. How dumb would that be?!
Yet my folks are still worried about my level of financial ability. Drives me nuts.
Unlike Spike - his parents are concerned he will blow his money unnecessarily - my problem is how I get a hard time about my lack of spending!
So what if I prefer to keep my money safe than risk it? It’s my business how I decide to spend it, if in fact I do wind up spending it. Mum and Dad are so concerned I “seem to be missing out on opportunities” by not wanting to part with my money. I’m not worried - why are they?
I’d be happier if they would just answer me this:
What do they feel is the appropriate balance of Spending in relation to Saving?
Because I reckon we have differing views on the topic…
